Pigeons
As far as I know, six of these pigeons are offspring this year to two of these pigeons. I know the pair that has been nesting in my barn lost at least two fledglings to predators. I am aghast at their fecundity.
Monument Creek
Purple
After the Fourth of July, I bought several pots of petunias that had been part of the red, white and blue promotion at King Soopers. None of the pots had blooms when I bought them, but the foliage looked healthy. Within a week, all of the planted annuals were blooming profusely. Petunias are tough: a nice choice for Colorado.

Fire Miles
Flickr has a night time photo shot of the fire ravaging the foothills near Boulder. So far no loss of life has been reported, but many structures have been lost, including some that belonged to volunteer fire fighters working on the fire. (via NewMexiken)
