The Comfy Chair

Jack came up this idea for my Christmas present and I agreed it was a good idea. (We usually check out non-trivial gifts with each other, since we would rather get something the other person really wants rather than a surprise. One year, I did manage to surprise Jack with a set of Calphalon pots and pans, but I had told him that I didn’t think they were a good idea when he said he wanted them.) I went to Office Max a few days ago and did some tests. Today, when I came home from the barn, my present was in the sitting room with a red table cloth draped over it. I immediately replaced the old wooden chair I have been using as a computer chair for years now.

I can’t believe how comfortable it is.

Spam Karma

When I installed the alpha version of WordPress 1.3 for Five Acres, I broke plugin processing. Among other things, this meant that the plugins I was using to control comment spam stopped working. Fortunately, WordPress 1.3 allows you to delete comment spam a lot more easily than did WordPress 1.2.

Yesterday, I wasn’t feeling very well, so I spent some time getting plugins to work on my weblog again. Once I did, I installed Spam Karma, about which I had read good things. It is working flawlessly for me, and I am gloating over the number of spams it has killed.

Christmas Mantel

Mantel
Yesterday, my mother found a stable for her Nativity scene when I took her to Hobby Lobby. We had seen some at Park Meadows, but they were very expensive.

Unfortunately, most of my mother’s Christmas decorations have to go on the mantel because it is the one place her cat won’t bother them. Smokey seems to view Christmas decorations as entertainments expressly import for her pleasure.
