Facebook’s New Privacy Changes: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Our conclusion? These new “privacy” changes are clearly intended to push Facebook users to publicly share even more information than before. Even worse, the changes will actually reduce the amount of control that users have over some of their personal data.

I’ve deactivated my Facebook account, pending changes to Facebook’s Privacy Policies.

  1. When I saw that you were on facebook (through this weblog) I thought, well if Elaine is on Facebook, it must be okay. I set up an account so I could look at some facebook pages. Since then, I have had several requests to be “friends” with others. I have struggled with putting any information on Facebook, as I am basically a very private person. I did like the way of connecting with long lost friends, but still very skeptical to share personal information in such a general way. Yesterday I read the new privacy policies and was not reassured. So, for now, I will hold off. Thanks for posting this.
