This weekend, Jack and I took a quick trip to the area in Texas where we used to live. We drove down via Kansas and Oklahoma, and drove back through Texas and New Mexico. Despite the Kansas route being completely interstate, the Texas route is much faster.
Jack went to participate in the player draft for his fantasy baseball team, and I went because I could. We stayed with some old friends Friday night. We meant to stay there Thursday night as well, but decided to stay in Norman, Oklahoma for the night instead.
It was great to see our friends, and to stay in their lovely house near Allen, Texas. I took the photo of Jack in their backyard. While I was there, I visited Stamp Asylum, which is a great stamp store, and made a pilgrimage to Half-Priced Books, a Texas chain which sells remaindered and used books.
The long drives were made pleasant by audiobooks that I checked out of the library. Jack and I both like to listen to mysteries, and I found two by Ngaio Marsh and one by Tony Hillerman.
