{"id":499,"date":"2007-09-03T17:11:26","date_gmt":"2007-09-04T00:11:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stardel.com\/eg\/?p=499"},"modified":"2007-09-03T17:11:26","modified_gmt":"2007-09-04T00:11:26","slug":"john-martin-heneghan-1927-2007","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stardel.com\/eg\/2007\/09\/john-martin-heneghan-1927-2007\/","title":{"rendered":"John Martin Heneghan 1927-2007"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My Dad passed away this morning, surrounded by his family.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>It is fitting that Dad died on Labor Day.\u00a0 He has been\u00a0 involved\u00a0 with the labor\u00a0 movement\u00a0 for his\u00a0 entire\u00a0 career. Starting from working for a union when he graduated from Iona, to teaching, to opening Equal Employment offices in the South, to running EEO for the Maritime Administration, to running EEO for the Labor Department.<\/p>\n<p>Dad taught me several important life lessons, lessons I didn&#8217;t even realize I was being taught at the time.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do not prejudge, people or events. Form your judgment on your personal\u00a0 interactions.<\/li>\n<li>Do not have an opinion on matters you haven&#8217;t investigated.\u00a0 You don&#8217;t need to have an opinion on everything.<\/li>\n<li>Be true to your beliefs. Stand up to what you believe is wrong and stand for what you believe is right.<\/li>\n<li>Always be curious. Always be interacting with the world, the people, around you.<\/li>\n<li>Enjoy life.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dad was curious and asking questions to the end.
