{"id":1155,"date":"2011-10-16T21:13:16","date_gmt":"2011-10-17T03:13:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stardel.com\/eg\/?p=1155"},"modified":"2011-10-16T21:13:16","modified_gmt":"2011-10-17T03:13:16","slug":"second-bill-of-rights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stardel.com\/eg\/2011\/10\/second-bill-of-rights\/","title":{"rendered":"Second Bill of Rights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Second_Bill_of_Rights\">Second Bill of Rights &#8211; Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I have just been watching Michael Moore&#8217;s<em> <a href=\"http:\/\/michaelmoore.com\/books-films\/capitalism-love-story\">Capitalism<\/a> &#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Capitalism:_A_Love_Story\">A Love<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1232207\/\">Story<\/a><\/em>and he ends with a recap of FDR 2nd Bill Of Rights.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Roosevelt&#8217;s remedy was to declare an &#8220;economic bill of rights&#8221; which would guarantee:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Employment, with a <a title=\"Living wage\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Living_wage\">living wage<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li>Freedom from unfair competition and <a title=\"Monopoly\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Monopoly\">monopolies<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li>Housing,<\/li>\n<li>Medical care,<\/li>\n<li>Education, and,<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Social security\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Social_security\">Social security<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I don&#8217;t believe these qualify as rights, but they are definitely components of the directive to promote the general welfare and we should incorporate them into our way of life.<\/p>\n<p>This reminds me of a Love Story much as<em> Romeo and Juliet<\/em> does.<\/p>\n<p>Moore ends the film with his wrapping of Wall Street with a Crime Scene tape and saying he can&#8217;t do this anymore. Do we want to join him? I think he has his answer two years later.<\/p>\n<p>( He interviewed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0001728\/\">Wallace Shawn<\/a> early in the film and I kept expecting an &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0093779\/quotes?qt0482717\">inconceivable<\/a> &#8216;.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Second Bill of Rights &#8211; Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
