About

My name is Jack Heneghan and I am currently residing in Colorado, USA. I am an Electrical Engineer by training and and a network engineer and all-around telecommunications bon vivant by vocation.

I am also interested in Science Fiction Fandom, as I enjoy the company of others who read Science Fiction. I have been active in this avocation for over thirty years, helping to put on all type of conclaves, from small local conventions on up to the World Science Fiction Convention.

Other interests include Travel, Photography, Cinema, and Games.

Politically, I am interested for the United States to progress and grow into the future, to continue to build on the founding documents and to see the legal concept of ‘corporations as people’ wiped from the law books. In a nation of over 300 million people, we need to work together and cover each other’s back as we strive through this life.  And I hope that we leave the world in good enough shape for those that follow us.

  1. Dear Jack,

I bumped into your blog through the Five Acres ID on Stumbleupon. It appears we have some similar interests and backgrounds. I spent some time near your home in Colorado, having graduated from the military school in your back yard. I was a navigator for 20+ years, and then a network engineer for another 20 years. I studied some EE at USAFA and in graduate school. Designing and building electronic projects has been a hobby of mine for a number of years.

From what I’ve been able to determine from your blogs, you are running Ubuntu. I’ve tried it, but I like openSUSE better — just my personal opinion. But whatever Linux flavor you’re running, it’s still better than Windows.

I see you also have a Schnauzer pup — my favorite breed. My wife and I have had three different Miniature Schnauzers since 1970, and each one has been better than the last. I’ve been using my last Schnauzer’s name as an e-mail address. Speaking of dogs, I read you have a dog that’s frightened of thunderstorms. Have you seen the “Dog Whisperer” program on the National Geographic Channel? Cesar Milan is the host and I used his training method on my mini Schnauzer who was deathly afraid of thunderstorms. He went from terrified to merely acknowledging there was a thunderstorm outside. It was truly amazing.

    I’ve enjoyed reading your blog,
    Bob
